At twenty years of age, Shawn Perez is currently the youngest artist at Ardstrum. He comes from a multi-generational family of artists, including one of the original founders of the open studio from which Ardstrum blossomed, Carlos Perez-Franco.
Shawn grew up in and around the studios of his parents and grandparents where he learned the tricks of the trade in a creative and supportive environment before branching out to develop his own voice and style. His bold, expressive works represent many of the priorities and concerns of the early 21-set century zeitgeist, not unlike street artists including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Kenny Sharf and Banksy who served similar roles for previous generations.
